Nicholas J. Santoro is an accomplished Nevada commercial litigator. He has been lead counsel in numerous trials and arbitrations.

Mr. Santoro has extensive experience in a wide variety of matters, including corporate/partnership disputes, class action defense, shareholder derivative cases, non-compete litigation, commercial real estate and lease disputes, construction litigation and professional liability claims.

He regularly represents hotel/casino and gaming technology companies, utilities, government agencies, homebuilders, real estate developers and law firms.

Mr. Santoro has consistently been recognized for his excellence in commercial litigation by Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business–Band 1; The Best Lawyers in America (Commercial Litigation and Bet-the-Company Litigation); Benchmark, America’s Leading Litigation Attorneys; and Super Lawyers (Mountain States).     Defeated application for preliminary injunction against commercial landlord in claim by retail tenant seeking to enforce alleged exclusivity covenants; matter settled thereafter.

    Obtained affirmance of dismissal of fraud claim against developer with respect to hotel/casino project; published Nevada Supreme Court opinion.

    Obtained judgment for radiology practice against its former administrator who violated her duty of loyalty.

    Successfully defended real estate developers in deficiency actions brought by lenders.

    Worked as part of trial counsel team in obtaining jury verdict on behalf of construction company in breach of contract action against owner; matter resolved after appeal.

    Obtained judgment on behalf of plaintiff against seller for real estate commission related to the expansion of a strip hotel; judgment affirmed on appeal.

    Achieved favorable outcome for grading contractor in breach of contract action against mall developer; matter settled just prior to reading of jury verdict.

    Secured dismissal of hotel in tort action stemming from an altercation in a nightclub on the property.

    Achieved favorable resolution for attorney who was accused of conspiring with his client to cause the loss of shares by a company officer.

    Obtained partial summary judgment in family business dispute involving a construction company and substantial real estate holdings; matter settled thereafter.

    Achieved favorable resolution for real estate developer in dispute by alleged joint venturer regarding public auction of development land; matter settled during jury trial.

    Obtained judgment after bench trial in favor of equipment company which had been accused of breaching an alleged advertising contract.

    Prevailed in arbitration of declaratory relief claims on behalf of hotel/casino with respect to allocation of maintenance costs associated with the operation of the parking structure it shared with an adjacent shopping mall.

    Successfully defended casino against claims that the casino’s marketing materials were untrue as they pertained to advantaged gamblers and thus violated consumer protection laws; affirmed on appeal.

Jim Whitmire, a shareholder in the firm, has extensive experience litigating a wide variety of cases, including complex commercial, employment, insurance and tort-related matters. He has been recognized in Nevada Business Magazine as one of the Silver State’s Top 100 Attorneys as nominated by their peers; recommended as a leading lawyer in the state of Nevada by Benchmark, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business; selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers 2008-2011 (Business Litigation); and is a faculty member with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Mr. Whitmire’s commercial litigation experience includes prosecuting and defending, on behalf of a wide variety of clients, business and real estate disputes, unfair business practice cases, non-compete matters, partnership disputes and trade secret cases. Many of the business litigation cases Mr. Whitmire litigates involve multi-million dollar disputes with complex factual and legal issues.

Mr. Whitmire’s insurance litigation experience includes the representation of clients in disputes concerning commercial general liability policies, umbrella and excess policies, law enforcement liability policies, inland marine policies, professional liability policies, homeowner’s policies and crime/fidelity insurance policies.

Mr. Whitmire’s employment litigation experience includes representing clients in wage and hour disputes and discrimination actions. For example, he has successfully defended one of the world’s largest companies against class action wage and hour allegations. He has also represented plaintiffs in two separate class action age discrimination cases, and he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in individual sexual harassment, disability, race discrimination and other similar lawsuits.

Mr. Whitmire has also represented attorneys in professional liability matters, will accept select personal injury and wrongful death cases and is available to mediate various disputes.

Mr. Whitmire majored in finance and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with Distinction, from the University of Iowa. Following undergraduate school, he attended the University of Illinois, receiving his Juris Doctor degree, Magna Cum Laude. A native of Moline, Illinois, Mr. Whitmire is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and Nevada.

Mr. Pancheri is a business law attorney and litigator. Andrew J. Glendon

Andrew J. Glendon heads Santoro Whitmire’s transactional and business law practice. Mr. Glendon has a wide variety of experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate and limited liability company law, real estate transactions and tax law. Mr. Glendon has been selected as a Rising Star by the Super Lawyers Mountain States magazine for the past several years, and is a frequent lecturer and contributing author on business, real estate and tax law issues.

Mr. Glendon was born and raised in the San Francisco, California, Bay Area and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree (With Distinction) in 1998 from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Mr. Glendon was a member of the Pacific Law Review during law school, serving as Chief Legislation Editor, and obtained practical legal experience while clerking for several law firms in Sacramento, California throughout law school. Mr. Glendon obtained his LL.M. degree in Federal Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1999, during which time he clerked for a major international law firm. Prior to relocating to Southern Nevada in 2000, Mr. Glendon represented corporate clients in the Silicon Valley during the height of the “dot-com” boom, and gained vast experience in a limited amount of time working on pre-IPO capitalization and restructuring transactions.

Mr. Glendon currently maintains a broad transactional and business practice. He previously represented mainly developer-based clients in all facets of their projects, including syndication, acquisition, development and high-end leasing matters. In addition to continuing to represent clients in such matters, Mr. Glendon has more recently become involved in representing clients in loan-workout transactions, as well as providing support in complex business litigation matters and bankruptcy workouts. Mr. Glendon is able to add value to his clients’ transactions based on his knowledge and understanding of the Federal and State tax laws.

Jason Smith is a founding shareholder in the firm and has experience in a wide variety of commercial, contract, business, tort, and civil litigation matters in state and federal court, including matters before the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Smith has experience handling matters involving commercial contracts, landlord/tenant (residential and commercial), personal guarantees, corporate governance disputes, partnership and limited liability entity disputes, shareholder derivative actions, tort, real estate, professional malpractice and liability, defamation and business disparagement, mechanic’s liens, employment discrimination, and medical malpractice. Martindale-Hubbell has designated Mr. Smith as an AV-rated lawyer. Mr. Smith has been selected as a Mountain States SuperLawyer each year since 2014. Mr. Smith was selected as a Rising Star by the SuperLawyers Mountain States magazine in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Mr. Smith has also been selected as of the Top 100 Attorneys in Southern Nevada by the Nevada Business Journal in its 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Legal Elite editions.

A native of Bettendorf, Iowa, Mr. Smith received B.B.A. degrees in Finance and Marketing from the University of Iowa in 2001 where he was a member and captain of the Hawkeye basketball team that won the 2001 Big Ten Tournament Championship. Mr. Smith was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, and was selected as the basketball team’s representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Board. Mr. Smith received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa’s Willard S. Boyd College of Law in 2005 where he was a member of the Journal of Corporation Law.

Prior to law school, Mr. Smith was a commercial real estate leasing associate for developer Equity Growth Group, LLC, in Bettendorf, Iowa. During law school, Mr. Smith was Secretary of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and was also one of two students chosen by the University Provost to serve on the College of Law Dean Search Committee in 2003–04. Mr. Smith studied abroad in the College of Law’s Iowa-Bordeaux Comparative Law program in Arcachon, France, in 2004. Mr. Smith is a member of the Nevada Bar Association, the Clark County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Jason’s personal interests include playing basketball and golf, attending concerts, travel, and following all sorts of professional and college sports, especially his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes.

Jenapher Lin

Jenapher Lin is an associate attorney at Santoro Whitmire.

Ms. Lin received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She earned her juris doctorate degree from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV, attending school on an academic scholarship. During law school, Ms. Lin worked as a research assistant to Professor Jeffrey W. Stempel, a law clerk at a commercial litigation firm, and an extern at the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.

Upon graduating from Boyd, Ms. Lin clerked for the Honorable James C. Mahan, United States District Judge for the District of Nevada. As a judicial law clerk, Ms. Lin worked closely with Judge Mahan as his honor presided on district court matters and sat by designation on several cases pending before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her clerkship responsibilities included overseeing criminal and civil trials over which Judge Mahan presided and managing one-half of the court’s docket, which consisted of hundreds of active criminal and civil cases.

Ms. Lin is a member of the Nevada Bar, Federal Bar Association, National Justice Association, and Public Interest Law Association. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and fantasy football.
